Celebrating Parks and Recreation Month

Wednesday, July 14, 2010
Members of Friends of the Park stand with Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray as she signs a proclamation designating July as Parks and Recreations month. Parks and recreation programs are an integral part of the communities throughout the country, including the parks in Greencastle, the proclamation states. They are vitally important to establishing and maintaining the quality of life in the community and build healthy, active communities that aid in the prevention of chronic disease, provide therapeutic recreation services for those who are mentally or physically disabled and improve the mental and emotional health of all citizens as well. Present for the signing are Jan Firebaugh, front row from left, Joan Davis, Mayor Murray, Lynn Wilson, Chuck Schroeder; back row, Brian Pohlar and Rod Weinshenk.

  • I think our park and surrounding areas are great! We take our son there to play and use the Big Walnut Sports Park for recreation also. I do have an honest, nonjudgemental question though... why are the bathrooms at RobeAnn park always disgusting and exceptionally dirty? Is there anyway to fix this problem?
