Enough already

I was quick out of the gate to throw my two cents in on the whole Tiger Wood infidelity fiasco, but this is getting ridiculous. The handling of questions by the English media is over the top and not needed.

Did you know that the British Open kicked off Thursday? No? Well, did you know that Tiger Woods was grilled by the British media about his infidelity and private life? Betcha did.

This has become standard operating procedure it seems. If his golf game isn't selling stories, maybe getting a reaction out of him will. If you watch the press conferences that's the only logical conclusion one can draw from their line of questioning.

The reason I said what I did was because I wanted to see a new Tiger Woods and it had little to do with what he was doing off the course. I think he has the obligation to conduct himself better than most because he is in fact a role model for many young people. I know that some don't want that label put on them, but if you want to be a star, you have to accept all that comes with it.

That being said, when is the questioning about Woods' private life going to stop? He's reportedly made an effort to improve himself, he's spending more time with his kids and the simple fact is, the story is old news. We all know what happened, now let's all get past it or walk away from it.

What I mean by that is you don't have to forgive Tiger for what he did, but let it go and walk away from him. Don't continue to stick around just so you have one more thing in your life to be negative about. It's like when people want to complain what's on TV. If you don't like it turn the station or, better yet, turn off the TV. It's as simple as that.

The majority of us wanted Woods back on tour, and now that's he's back let the questions focus on his game and not his indiscretions. I still don't agree with what he did off the course, but it's still his on-the-course behavior that bothers me.

You still hear rumbles and mumbles, curses and mutterings to himself and even see the more than occasional slammed clubbed, but if I was being badgered as he is, I might slam my stapler around or toss my keyboard to the ground. It's human nature, but how often have we been told Woods is no mere human?

This dark cloud will always be with him for the rest of his career no matter how many more titles he wins and if the golf media's only intent is to hurl questions that have no basis on his golf game, what are they there for? I know what Tiger did, I hope that he is remorseful, but what does that tell me about his golf game? Absolutely nothing.

He will never have the public image he once had and he shouldn't, but he also shouldn't have to answer question after question that is only asked to illicit a negative response or reaction. Real journalists ask questions to help tell their story, but so far, certain journalists are only focused on getting their soundbyte on Sportscenter and less concerned about the story itself.

The one thing we've all learned is, if you're going to be billed as Superman, you have to make sure to keep your cape clean and Tiger Woods is doing the best he can at the moment I believe. People don't have to forgive or forget, but stop dwelling and looking for a reason to complain for the sake of complaining.
