Harold R. Alcorn

Harold Raymond Alcorn, 84, of Bainbridge passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010.

An only child, he was born April 28, 1926 to the late Bert L. and Blanche (Shepherd) Alcorn.

He graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1944. A family man, he spent his lifetime farming, never moving from the property on which he was born. He also retired from Kroger Company after more than 20 years of service.

He married Joan Shonkwiler on Sept. 14, 1950, and she survives.

He is also survived by his children Debra (John) Lanie, Ron (Jane) Alcorn, Dorothy (Bill) Hill, Jennifer (Roddy) King, Camela (Rick) Johnston; 13 grandchildren, Chris (Jennifer) Hutchens, Stephanie (Bryce) Jones, Alison (Jason) Lanie, Ryan (Lindsey) Hill, Jeff Hutchens, Tyler Gordon, Andrew King, Jay Alcorn, Christa Gordon, Kassie King, Dustin King, Kyle Alcorn and Lauren Johnston; and five great-grandchildren, Mya Kimberling, Kyle Kimberling, Elleanor Jones, Addison Jones and Tucker Hutchens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Anne Marie Lanie.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Beth Newton Watson officiating. Burial will be private at Groveland Cemetery, next to the family farm. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
