Karla Whitaker-Pearson

Karla M. Whitaker-Pearson R.N., 48 of Mooresville passed away on July 22, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Mooresville surrounded by her loving family.

Karla was born in Greencastle on July 29, 1961 to Wm D. "Bill" and Martha Fidler Fluke of Mooresville. Her parents survive.

She was a Mooresville High School graduate of 1979. Karla graduated with honors from IU School of Nursing in 1984.

She was currently an Indiana State Board of Health State Nursing Home Team Surveyor. Previously, she had worked at the State of Indiana Girls School Facility; at Community Hospital South Campus as a caseworker, and Richard Roudebush V.A. Medical Center. She was a dedicated health worker.

Karla married Jeffrey Whitaker in 1979. From this union, daughter, Tiffany was born. In December 2000, she married Alan D. Pearson and he survives. Survivors are daughter, Tiffany Whitaker Schick (Jason); step daughter, Lacy Pearson Chambers (Jason); 2 grandsons, Collin Schick and Jackson Pearson; 2 brothers, Kyle Fluke (Kathy) and Kris Fluke; nieces and nephews, Courtney, Kelsey, Carl, Wesley, and Krista Fluke. Karla will be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins that survive.

Preceding her in death were grandparents Chesley and Iva Fidler and Carl and Merle Fluke and stepson Darren M. Pearson.

The family will receive friends at Jones Crossing Banquet Center next door to Jones Family Mortuary on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 2 until 7:30pm. Services will follow immediately at 7:30pm, Tuesday at Jones Crossing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Damar Home or Coburn Place.
