GREENCASTLE -- In boys' varsity soccer action, the Tiger Cubs took on the Danville Warriors at home Thursday evening and won a hard fought contest 3-2 to remain unbeaten on the season.

Greencastle led 2-0 at the half on goals by junior Brandon Query and senior Spencer Moore.

Junior Sonney Basham extended the Tiger Cubs lead to 3-0 with 32:35 to play in the match.

Danville fought back to score its first goal midway through the second half and added another goal with three minutes to play.

"Danville is always a very physical team and to their credit they competed for the full 80 minutes," GHS head coach Dave Lilly said. "It was a good win over an opponent that we played to a draw last season and they are definitely a better team than they were last year."

The Tiger Cubs junior varsity squad fell to the Warriors 4-1.

Danville scored four goals in the first half, but Greencastle rallied in the second half and gained some momentum as Alec Davis scored the lone goal of the period.

Greencastle had several more good chances, but were unable to connect and the game ended in a 4-1 loss for the Tiger Cubs.
