Putnamville Correctional Facility passes audit

PUTNAMVILLE -- The Putnamville Correctional Facility has been recommended for re-accreditation after receiving high praising during a recent audit by the American Correctional Association (ACA).

The facility passed their audit with a perfect 100 percent on the mandatory standards established by the ACA, and an extraordinary 98.9 percent on the non-mandatory ACA standards.

An independent audit team spent three days touring facility grounds, reviewing policies, procedures and practices while scoring each area as compliant or non-compliant. The audit team praised staff for working hard to maintain a safe, clean facility and for their professionalism and positive attitudes.

They were impressed by the innovative programming provided for the offenders and how well staff and offenders worked together.

They had particularly high praise for the cleanliness of the facility.

Putnamville Superintendent Bruce Lemmon commended facility staff who worked long and hard to show what a great facility Putnamville truly is.

"I attribute this accomplishment to the team efforts of our staff," he said. "I'm honored to work with such dedicated and professional individuals."

Putnamville Correctional Facility was first accredited in 2001. With accreditation comes the responsibility passing a re-accreditation audit every three years.

The facility passed its last re-accreditation in 2007.
