ROACHDALE -- On Tuesday, the North Putnam girls' golf team hosted Crawfordsville and Tri-West in a tri-way meet, with the Cougars tying for second place with Tri-West. The Cougars and Bruins shot a 228, but Crawfordsville's 203 took the match.

Josie Parent led the Cougar with a 55, followed by Valerie Scott with a 56 and Emmy Rees with a 58. Carlie Shearer carded a 59 for North Putnam.

The Cougars and their coach Linda Patrick knew it would be close and had to wait for the Bruins to come in with their scores. In the end, the teams were knotted at 228 each.

On Monday, the Cougars had played the waiting game as well in their match against Owen Valley.

Patrick noted her team began slowly, but improved throughout the match.

There was only a three-stroke difference while the teams waited for the final team to come in. Scott led the way with 57, followed by Parent and Shearer with a pair of 59s. Patrick knew it was going to be Ellen Wilborn or Rees who would be the difference.

Wilborn shot a 58 and Rees a 62, but the Patriots had a golfer come to the clubhouse with a 54, delivering the victory to Owen Valley.
