TERRE HAUTE -- The Greencastle boys' cross country team competed at the State Preview meet at Terre Haute Saturday. Greencastle finished 22nd overall, with eight of nine runners recording personal bests.

Ryan Stevens led the GHS team with a time of 17:36. Tyler Hudson followed with a 17:45, with Nathan Eubank adding a time of 17:59.

Paul Bryan ran a time of 19:02, while Erik Norlin ran a 19:13, breaking his personal best by two minutes.

In junior varsity action, Kade Fauber cut his personal best by six minutes, posting a time of 24:28. Josh Mitchell ran a time of 27:15 in his first ever 5K.

The Tiger Cubs were without runner Brad Haussin and Hunter Mitchell as they were nursing injuries.

"This past week I told my guys I was going to hurt them a little and push them harder and farther than they had been pushed before," GHS head coach Craig Callahan said. "We had an extremely difficult week of practice, but as always the guys pushed themselves and fought through the pain. That hard work paid off Saturday in Terre Haute. To have all of my guys but one PR is incredible."

Callahan also noted he believes the team is moving in the right direction.

"Each week we improve," Callahan said. "Our goal wasn't to place as a team this past weekend, but to improve our times and we did that. We walked away from Terre Haute feeling victorious. This week we'll be preparing to do the same thing at Ben Davis. Just continue to chip away at our times and improve."
