Eagles lose tight contest to Danville

South Putnam runner Shea Arnold ran an 18:40 to finish second Wednesday when the Eagles hosted Danville. The Eagles lost after tying the Warriors with 28 points, but the contest was decided on the sixth runner placement, which went to Danville.

GREENCASTLE -- The South Putnam boys' cross country team hosted Danville Wednesday, coming up short after the teams had to go to its sixth runner to decide the contest. The Eagles and Warriors tied at 28-all, but Danville came out on top after its sixth runner finished 12th overall as opposed to South Putnam's 13th place finish.

Shea Arnold missed out on the top spot by eight seconds, finishing second in a time of 18:40. Hunter Barr was third with a time of 18:44, with Jorge Cavell placing fifth in a time of 19:30. Tanner Barr was also a top 10 finisher, coming in seventh with a time of 19:47.

Andrew Kelly finished just outside the top 10, placing 11th in a time of 20:17. Matt Lund was 13th with a time of 20:41, Larry Hurst was 14th in a time of 20:57 and Trent Workman was 15th in a time of 21:13. Kinser Franklin was 16th (22:18), Trevor Lass was 17th (22:37) and Tyler Nield was 18th (23:04).

Zeke Evans finished the day in 20th position with a time of 23:57, with Alex Kelly finishing 24th in a time of 24:30. Matt Allen was 25th (24:49) and Gavin Jacobs was 26th (24:50).
