Greencastle girls place 11th at Ben Davis Invite

AVON -- The Greencastle girls' cross country team competed at the Ben Davis Invitational Saturday, finishing in 11th place with 320 points. Westfield was the overall winner with 82 points.

Sophomore Colleen Weatherford broke her school 5K record with a time of 19:52 and finished in 22nd place. Emily Gill posted a personal best time of 20:57 for 58th place, while Kayla Cash was 73rd with a time of 21:26.

Paige Pickens continued her improvement, dropping her time to capture 79th place in 21:39. Abigail Wilson rounded out the top five GHS runners with an 88th place finish in a time of 22:04, a personal best.

Freshman Megan Haynes was 104th (23:08) and senior Faith Fear was 106th (23:29).

"The course was fast and a bit wet," GHS head coach Garry Anderson said. "The varsity girls were able to finish their race before the heavy rains came down during the junior varsity boys' race. Our next meet is the Bloomington North Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m."
