Daughters of the American Revolution is Constitution Week

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Dear Editor:

Each year, the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrate the Constitution of our great country.

Over 200 years ago, American colonists sacrificed and died to establish the freedoms guaranteed to us by the Constitution of the United States of America.

The far-sighted citizens provided a republic which established laws to protect the rights of all citizens. Today we watch as people throughout the world battle for the rights many of us take for granted.

The week of Sept. 17 through 23 is Constitution Week. Take time to appreciate these much-coveted rights.

Washburn Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, encourages you to read the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights and the 27 Amendments. You'll discover a deeper appreciation for America and her cherished history.
