Guild meeting planned for today

St. Paul's Ladies Guild will meet in the narthex at 9 a.m. today.

The speaker will be John Harlan. His topic will be "The Blood Drive: What it Does."

Also, Christmas Bazaar plans will be discussed.

Hostesses for the meeting are Linda Gilmartin and Kay Thomas. All women of the parish are invited and encouraged to attend.

Inaugural Powderpuff game is Tuesday

Greencastle High School will hold their inaugural Powderpuff girls' football game Tuesday.

The game will be played at Harbison Stadium Football Field starting at 7 p.m. The freshmen will play against the sophomores and the juniors against the seniors.

A class tug-of-war will take place between games, and the Junior Class Concession Stand will be open.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students and children. Proceeds will go to the GHS Women's Basketball Team and the GHS Pep Club.

Homemaker Club starts Tuesday

A new Tuesday afternoon extension homemaker club is forming in the Cloverdale area, with meetings from 2 to 4 p.m.

The first meeting is Tuesday at the home of Sharon Baldwin at 53 Truman Drive. The lesson will be grated cheeses, which will be presented by Bonnie Bryan. Call 739-6101 for more information.

First candidate forum is Wednesday

The Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE Radio and the Banner Graphic are co-sponsoring two candidates' forums for the Putnam County Community.

The first will be held on Oct. 6 and the second will take place Oct. 13. Both will be at the Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media on the DePauw University campus, and both will begin at 7 p.m.

The forum will be broadcast live on WGRE radio and cable access Channel 3.

The first forum will feature Nancy Michael and Jim Baird, who are running for state representative in District 44. The second will feature candidates from county races, and will include Steve Fenwick, Garry Clark and Joe Tesmer, who are running for sheriff; and Tim Bookwalter and Robert Perry, candidates for prosecuting attorney.

Audience members will be allowed to ask questions at the conclusions of both forums.

Refreshments will be served.

Buy Local Task Force meeting set

The Buy Local Task Force, headed by the Greater Greencastle Chamber of Commerce, will meet Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Greencastle City Hall. Anyone interested in participating is welcome.

Woman's Club to meet Wednesday

The Greencastle Woman's Club will meet Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home of Sharon High.

Diana LaViolette will present the program.

Reunion planned for June

The Greencastle High School Class of 1961's 50th reunion will be held June 17-19, 2011.

MS support group meeting on Oct. 19

The H.E.O.C. MS Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Greencastle McDonalds. Caregivers will meet at the same time. All those who have MS or know someone with MS are welcome to attend.
