Look up to stars tonight at open house

The McKim Observatory is having a public Open House to look for Mars and Jupiter from 8 to 10 p.m.

Care Net offering children's clothing

As the temperatures start to fall, many parents struggle to purchase warm winter clothing for their children. Care Net Pregnancy Center of Putnam County has nice children's clothing for children in sizes newborn through 2T available free of charge to those who need them.

Parents need fall and winter clothing for their children are encouraged to stop by Care Net on the square from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

Care Net is on the west side of the courthouse square on the ground floor of the historic Granada Opera House. For more information, call 653-3345.

Dispatch updating deer call out list

Putnam County 911 Dispatch needs to update its deer call out list. This is a list of people willing to come out and take deer hit in car wrecks. Name, phone number and location in the county are needed.

Interested parties can send information to dispatch's Facebook page, e-mail 911@co.putnam.in.us or call 653-5115, ext. 0.

Dispatch also needs to update its after hours business contact list. This is a list of the people to contact after a business is closed in the event of an alarm, break-in or other problem.

Treasurer's office accepting online payments

With an increasing demand to make tax payments online, the Putnam County Treasurer's office is now accepting online payments. Credit card payments for real estate, mobile home and personal property taxes may now be made online at www.putnamtax.net or by calling 1-800-809-5849.

The same website may be used to obtain information on current taxes due, property values, exemptions, assessments and payments.

Credit card payments will not be accepted in person or by mail at the Putnam County Treasurer's office.

Workshop explores 'bad' films

The Putnam County Public Library and Low Road Gallery will present "Take Two: Workshop on Bad Films (and why we love them enough to do a remake)." The workshop will run from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Oct. 23.

Acting, directing or set making experience is not required. All equipment is provided.
