Thursday, October 21, 2010

GREENCASTLE -- The Putnam County Youth Soccer Association (PCYSA) will be sponsoring a pair of three-on-three tournaments at Big Walnut Sports Park on Oct. 30 and 31.

Proceeds from the events will go toward the construction of a fence in honor of Eli Hardwick, who was struck by a car at the sports park on Sept. 30. Eli remains in Riley Hospital but continues to improve.

The tournament for those over age 20 as of Oct. 11 will be "Rising Moon." It will be on Oct. 30.

The 10- to 19-year-old tournament, "Flying Pumpkins," will be Oct. 31.

There will be 12 teams of each of five age brackets: 10-12, 13-16, 17-19, 20-24 and 25 and older.

To register, form a three-person team (age bracket belongs to the oldest person on the team) and pick an interesting team name.

Registration forms and liability waivers are available at pcysa.com/3v3.html.

The forms, along with $10 per person, may be turned in at one of three open registrations: 5- to 7 p.m. today at Greencastle McDonald's, 11:30 a.m.-. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 25-28 on the east wall of "The Hub" at the DePauw Student Union or from 6- to 7 p.m. Oct. 26 and 28 at the Big Walnut Sports Park concessions stand.
