Judith Marie Martin Buis Gieseking

Judith Marie Martin Buis Gieseking, 67, of Brazil, passed away, at home, Oct. 26, 2010 at 8:25 p.m. following a lengthy illness.

She was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Terre Haute, the daughter of Hiram Densford and Beulah Muriel (Miller) Martin.

Judy graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in elementary education and later received a masters degree in education as well. She taught for a short time at Belle Union Elementary, later retiring from Central Elementary after 33 years of teaching with the South Putnam School District.

She married the love of her live, Stephen Gieseking, Oct. 23, 1992. He preceded her in death in 2004.

In her free time she enjoyed listening to Elvis music, collecting teddy bears and playing bingo with friends and family. She was also an avid photographer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Eugene Buis and Stephen Gieseking.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Criss of Riley and Marjorie Moseman, and husband Bob of Indianapolis; brother Jim Martin and wife Joyce; close friend Neva Pefley of Brazil; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, at 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until time of services Saturday.
