Greencastle 7th graders get wins

GREENCASTLE -- On Tuesday evening the Greencastle seventh grade basketball team traveled to South Putnam.

In the A-game, GMS jumped out to an early lead and never looked back winning 53 to 17.

Ryan Coble spearheaded a big first quarter scoring 11 points with teammate Brandon Gierke adding nine. Coble and Gierke were both high-point men with 19 each. Coble also dished out five assists, while Gierke grabbed six rebounds on the night.

Cole Edgar led the team with four steals, followed by Chase Chew with three. South Putnam was led in scoring by Wood with six, followed by Stewart with five and Comacho with four.

In the B contest, both teams played evenly in the first half with the score being tied at 14-all after two quarters.

The Tiger Cubs then pulled away in the second half to notch their second win of the season, 33-21.

Individually, Jacob Sanders had a big night for the visitors, scoring a game-high 12 points, grabbing nine rebounds, making four steals and blocking two shots in the game.

Sanders was helped in scoring by Brayden White who scored 12.

The Eagles were paced by Jacob Lorimer and Dylan Drawbaugh with six points each followed by Lane Baker's five.

The Tiger Cubs will next see action when they travel to Cloverdale Monday night for another county contest.
