Lois Allee

Lois Allee passed away Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at Asbury Towers from Alzheimer's disease with her sons by her side.

Lois was born in Tennessee and moved to Indianapolis early in her life. She became a professional model in her late teens and modeled regularly at L.S. Ayers, Wasson's and Block's Department Stores.

She met and married Ross Allee a couple of years later. Ross preceded her in death in 1996.

Lois did many things during her life, including opening a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio on the west side of the Courthouse Square along with her husband, and developing and running the College Castle Motel and Robe-Ann Apartment Complex, both next to each other on Bloomington Street.

Lois sold real estate for over 35 years ,starting with E.H. Collins Company, then Century 21 Allee Realty and most recently F.C.Tucker/Schneider Realty.

Her love for antiques led her to open several antique stores. She assisted with the Putnam County Fair Queen Contest for many years. She served on the Forest Hill Cemetery Board for 20 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and Club 48, and she worked on numerous fundraisers and committees over the years.

She is survived by her sons, Ron Alee of Greencastle and Lannie Allee of San Diego and her granddaughters, Koree and Kari, also of San Diego.

A private family memorial service will be held.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to the Putnam County Community Foundation, Attn: Lois Allee Fund, 2 South Jackson Street, Greencastle, IN 46135.

The family also requests to withhold the generosity of any food or flowers.
