Giving the Gift of Life

Friday, December 24, 2010
Nancy Holsapple, along with Mindy Shrout and Dana Bumgardner (not shown) is donating blood at the First Christian Church's semi-annual blood drive on Tuesday. Holsapple is president of Old National Trail, a cooperative dedicated to helping children with special needs, and Shrout and Bumgardner are also employees. "I told them I heard there was a blood drive and we need to give the gift of life," Holsapple said. The event also gave away Colts t-shirts and footballs, and featured home-made baked treats from the church.

  • Darn! I didn't even know about this blood drive, and I am a dedicated donor.

  • Perhaps I missed it, but an article before the fact would give many more potential donors a chance to be aware of upcoming blood drives.

  • Indiana Blood Center has computerized their donor lists. Go to www.donorpoint.org to register. This will make it easier to be notified of future blood drives. Also, there are six blood drives scheduled at churches in Greencastle in 2011, one every two months. Next one should be in February.

Thanks to the B-G for mentioning the drive in Putnam Patter.

  • Where does the Putnam Patter appear? I see it once in a great while in the News tab, but not regularly.
