Officers identify truck in Bottoms' death

OWEN COUNTY -- Through the combined efforts of the Owen County Sheriff's Office, Owen County Prosecutors Office, Putnam County Sheriff's Office and Greencastle Police Department, the vehicle that killed 12-year-old Billy Bottoms on Jan. 22 has been identified in Owen County. Officers are still speaking with individuals and more information will be revealed as it become available.

In a press release, the Owen County sheriff's office claimed to receive more than 50 tips in a 48 hour period.

  • This is a sad situation, what might have been considered a horrible accident will now become much more of a crime. I do not understand how someone could have just drove off and left this young man laying in the cold with serious injuries. My heart goes out to the family, no parent should have to bury a child. Praying for your family.
