County girls' hoops teams prepare for sectional action

The IHSAA girls' basketball sectional pairings were announced Sunday, and Putnam County's teams will be in action at two different locations.

In Class 3A, Greencastle's girls drew a first round bye in Sectional 29 at South Vermillion.

The Lady Tiger Cubs entered this week with a 12-7 record. They will face the winner of Brown County (14-6) and Edgewood (14-7).

In a Jan. 8 matchup, Greencastle fell to Brown County 67-62. GHS also lost to Edgewood, 42-37 on Dec. 4.

In Class 2A, Cloverdale, North Putnam and South Putnam will all be in action at Cascade's Sectional 46.

The Lady Clovers (1-19) face the Lady Cougars (3-16) in the second first-round game.

Cloverdale edged North Putnam 43-39 in the teams' Jan. 21 game.

South Putnam (2-16) will face Speedway (5-13) in game four.

The Lady Eagles and Lady Sparkplugs last faced off in the opening round of last year's sectional, with Speedway winning 48-22 on Feb. 12, 2010.
