Quail Unlimited fundraiser set

Thursday, February 17, 2011

The 23rd annual West Central Indiana Quail Unlimited banquet and fundraiser is scheduled for Feb. 26 at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, located off S.R. 240 at Ballard Lane in Greencastle.

Dixie Chopper is the corporate sponsor for the event.

Proceeds from last year's fundraiser helped to further the efforts toward establishing a wildlife habitat and supporting youth activities including a fall hunter safety class and a safe firearm handling and instruction to the 2011 4-H Shooting Sports participants.

Scheduled activities at the event include a seven-gun salute raffle with only 100 tickets sold, a live auction featuring art by some of the nation's best wildlife artists and hand-carved decoys by Jules Bouillet of Vincennes.

Some special live auction items will include a handmade solid cherry sideboard, a large assortment of fireworks supplied by Wayne's World Fireworks and a custom landscape boulder made and designed by Boulder Designs of Cloverdale.

There will also be games and prizes for the youth in attendance, three tables of ladies' gifts for three winners and a silent auction.

The evening will begin with beverages and appetizers at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and the auction.

Tickets are $35 for adults and $17.50 for youth 17 and younger, and are available at Humphrey's Outdoor Power, 950 N. Jackson St., Greencastle, or by calling Lynn Wilson at 246-6306.

The public is invited. Ticket sales will conclude at 5 p.m. on Feb. 23.
