James Brandon Barnett, 32, Fillmore, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011 following a tragic accident.

He was born in Indianapolis Aug. 19, 1978 the son of Daniel Hayes and Betty (Barnett) Metz. Brandon graduated from South Putnam High School with the class of 1998 and attended Automotive Technology classes at IUPUI. Brandon had been working for Dixie Chopper until his recent lay-off.

He enjoyed spending time with his son, working on cars- especially Mustangs, and watching the Colts, Purdue, Notre Dame and Georgetown football. Brandon also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and helping others.

He is survived by his son James Brandon Barnett II; mother Betty Metz of Brazil; father Daniel Hayes; step fathers Mike Metz Sr. and Patrick J. McMickle Sr.; brothers and sisters David Ray McMickle, Ashley McMickle, Patrick J. McMickle, Cory Metz, Shane Metz, Mike Metz Jr., Daniel Baugh and Jamie Smith; aunt and uncles Donna Dearwester, Paul V. Hayes, and Terry Williamson; cousins Joseph Payton, Christopher Williamson, and Tonya Baker; grandmother Virginia C. Day as well as many other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers James Barnett, James "One Eye" Wright and Paul Hayes.

Services will be at French Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Cemetery, in Brazil. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Sunday, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Barnett trust fund at 5/3 Bank.
