H. William "Bill" Voltmer

Mr. H. William "Bill" Voltmer, 77, of Greencastle, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Wishard Health Center in Indianapolis.

Born March 18, 1933 in Greencastle, he was the son of Harry W. and Marga (Bruning) Voltmer. The valedictorian of the Greencastle High School graduating "Class of 1950," he attended DePauw University for two years.

Bill had owned and operated Federal Liquors on Thompson Rd. in Indianapolis and worked as a bricklayer for the F.A. Wilhelm Company. He had served as an officer and was a proud member of the B.P.O.E Lodge 1077, Greencastle; a lifetime charter & board member of the German American Klub, Indianapolis; and the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Voltmer and life partner, Ellen Miller of Chicago, Ann Hayworth and husband Bill of Auburn, and Susan Culy and fiancée, Gerard Wald of Saline, Mich; special friend, Lucille Mueller of Indianapolis; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a beloved aunt, Freda Meyer.

Funeral services will be held in Iowa at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Barker Funeral Home of Alta, Iowa. Burial will be in the Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home on from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday with a B.P.O.E. Memorial walk-thru to be held at 7 p.m.
