GREENCASTLE-- The Peace Lutheran School PTO will host a benefit dinner featuring a silent and live auction on April 2 at the Dixie Chopper Conference Center in Greencastle. Funds raised from the auction will be used to update the school's computer lab and to complete the next phase of the community fitness trail on the property behind the school.

Special guest speaker at the benefit dinner will be Katie Stam, Miss America 2009. Stam attended Lutheran schools while growing up in Seymour and continues to be supportive of Lutheran missions and community service.

The silent auction will feature a wide array of gift baskets consisting of merchandise and gift cards donated by area businesses. Items obtained for the live auction to date include a pair of Colts tickets, a Gary Brackett autographed jersey, Disney World Park Hopper Passes, tickets to the Dr. Phil show, an American Girl doll, freezer beef and pork from local farms, and much more.

Businesses or individual donors may also choose to serve as financial sponsors for the auction. "We are very grateful for the generous support we have received from area businesses so far," said PTO President Angela Mann. "We hope to make this event a fun evening of fellowship not just for our church members and school parents, but for the entire community. Our goal for the auction is to not only raise funds for needed equipment, but also to raise awareness of our school and the quality education our children are receiving here."
