Putnam County basketball final set

GREENCASTLE -- The Greencastle seventh and eighth grade girls' basketball teams opened the Putnam County tournament against North Putnam. GMS won the seventh grade game 25-14 and the eighth graders were victorious with a 44-12 win over the Cougars.

Marley Haltom led the GMS seventh grade team with 11 points. Makenzi Myers followed with five and Megan Haltom added four Sage Klinger had three and Allison White had two.

Lauren Johnston, Jenny Heron and Taylor Nauert were the Cougars' top scorers with four each, with Adri Millican adding two in the loss.

In the eighth grade game, Jessican Lenihan led the way with eight points, with Taylor Stoley, Sydney Secrest and Sydney Smiley with six points each. Callan Taylor had five and Tera Amis and Delanie Stoltey adding four each.

Sydney Stuckwisch scored three points and Lauren Bridgewater added two points in the win.

TyeAnn Strow and Kaitlin Mindiola scored four each for North Putnam, while Riki Evans and Jessi Cox chipped in two each.

At South Putnam, the Cloverdale seventh grade squad defeated South Putnam 39-20 and the South Putnam eighth grader defeated the Clovers 33-17.

Greencastle will face Cloverdale for the seventh grade championship Thursday, while South Putnam will face Greencastle for the eighth grade title. The seventh grade tips off at 6 p.m. with the eighth grade contest to follow.
