South Putnam Education Foundation gets boost from Harlem

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

The Harlem Wizards are coming to South Putnam High School on Monday, April 4 to play the South Putnam Super Eagles in a 6:30 p.m. fundraiser.

The game at South Putnam is presented by the South Putnam Community Education Foundation with help from donations by POET Ethanol and the Dixie Chopper Business Center. The South Putnam Education Foundation has been providing teacher grants and scholarships for several years.

The Wizards will be playing local heroes from the South Putnam court and classrooms as well as local patrons looking to have a fun time.

Ticket orders are being taken at all South Putnam schools. Student orders will be filled at the school while other patron ticket orders will be filled at the door. Prices are $6 for students and $8 for adults in advance and $10 for everyone at the door.

The Wizards have been making history since 1962 with the happiness, fun, goodwill and basketball excitement they bring. Whereas a NBA team's success is measured in wins and losses, the Wizards' victory lies in the millions of smiles they generate and the millions of dollars raised for charitable organizations.

At a Wizards' game, fans are more than spectators, they are part of the show filled with audience interaction. Fans will experience a display of tricks, coordinated ball handling, fancy passing, athleticism and comedy.

The Wizards, who boast a 3,500+ game winning streak, have toured five continents and 22 countries. Some of the pro basketball's greatest legends have played for the Wizards, including NBA Top 50 All-Time selections Connie Hawkins and Nate "Tiny" Archibald. In all, more than 20 NBA players have played for the Wizards, along with several college greats and blacktop legends.
