Ag Day a learning experience for families

Friday, April 1, 2011

To the Editor:

On Saturday, March 12, 2011, families came together to learn about a farmer's everyday life as Ag Week in Putnam County was changed to a one-day celebration -- Ag Day.

The day kicked off with the annual Ag Day Breakfast followed by a short program by state FFA officers, Megan Klotz and Janna Oxford. The awards for the Ag Day photo contest, Friend of the Farmer and the Farm Family of the Year were also given out.

Immediately following the program was the Mini Farm Fest where families participated in hands on activities, including the chance to interact with farm animals, sample milk and popcorn, corn shelling and much more.

Our goal of reaching more families in Putnam County with a move to a one-day event was a great success and could not have been achieved without help from our many sponsors and exhibitors:Mc Donald's, Putnam County Community Foundation, Almost Home, Arby's, Burger King, Kroger, Prairie Farms, Putnam Inn, Putnam Co.
