Audition dates for "The Music Man," the first show of the 2011 Putnam County Playhouse season, have been announced.

Director Shelly McFadden has scheduled two days of auditions. The first will be Sunday, April 10, at 3 p.m. The second will be Monday, April 11, at 7 p.m. Both sessions will be at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre, off Round Barn Road in Greencastle.

All roles are open. The cast will include opportunities for performers of all ages.

Leading roles include Harold Hill, the flim-flam organizer of a boys' band; Marian Paroo, a local piano teacher who is onto Hill's scam; Winthrop, Marian's younger brother; the local mayor and his family; Marcellus, Hill's partner in crime; a large ensemble of townspeople with speaking parts; and a male barbershop quartet.

Auditioners should prepare a song of at least 16 bars. There will also be readings from the script and a short dance audition.

In addition to McFadden, the staff includes Kathryn Dory as musical director, Lori Briones as choreographer, T J Tincher as assistant director, and Linda Gjesvold as set designer.

"The Music Man" will be produced June 2 to 4 and June 8 to 11.
