Friday, April 15, 2011

For the second meet in the row, the North Putnam Middle School track teams had their fate hanging in the balance with the final relay of night. Unfortunately for the Cougars, they experience their second narrow loss and fell to Cascade 61-57.

Head coach Tony Gray said that while he was happy with the performance, he sees lots of room for improvement for the team.

"We have been just one performance away from winning both meets. The kids are starting to understand what it takes to secure a victory," he said.

Tucker Lowe won the 200 meter hurdles in a school record time of 31.6, while Jensen Conlen won the shot put and the discus. Nick Bishop won the 200 meter dash, the long jump and was part of the winning 400 meter relay team.

Trebor Mason paced the field in the 800 meter run and was part of the winning 400 meter relay team as were Aaron Wesley and Anthony Cooke.

North Putnam will be back in action Monday at home against South Putnam and Lighthouse Misson.
