Sheriff's Camp set

Saturday, April 16, 2011

Putnam County Sheriff Steve Fenwick recently announced the 32nd annual Indiana Sheriffs' Leadership Camp will be held in July this year.

The camp is a program provided by the Indiana Sheriffs' Association for boys and girls who are currently in the seventh- and eighth-grade and are interested in learning more about a possible career in law enforcement. The camp provides a meaningful experience and relationship with other campers from throughout the state as well as sheriff officers who serve as counselors and instructors.

Kids from Putnam County will go to the July 6 to 8 session at Pine Creek Camp in Pine Village.

Any seventh- or eighth-grader interested in attending the camp should contact the Sheriff's Department at 653-3211 or their school counselor for an application and additional information.

Sheriff Fenwick announced that arrangements could probably be made to provide the camp registration fee through a local business or civic organization for anyone interested.
