South Putnam edges North Putnam for track win

Following wins over Monrovia and Cloverdale, the North Putnam Middle School boys' track team lost another heartbreaker Thursday. The Cougars opened the season with losses that came down to the final race of the night and Thursday was no exception. County rival South Putnam edged the Cougars 61-58.

"They out competed us tonight," North Putnam head coach Tony Gray said.

Aaron Wesley won the 200-meters, while Tucker Low won the 110-meter hurdles and Brandon Hall the long jump. Trebor Mason dropped 36-seconds to claim second place in the 2,400-meters and Jacob Riggen recorded personal bests in shot put and 110-meter hurdles.

For South Putnam, Lane Franklin won the 2,400-meters, while Lucas Lorian won both the 400-meters and long jump. Joey Master also recorded two wins for SPJH, winning the discus and the shot put.

The 400-meter relay team of Zane Yon, Franklin, Lorian and Noah Taylor won as did the 1,600-meter relay team of Franklin, Yon, Kieffer Vittetow and Berendt Freeman.
