TERRE HAUTE -- The Greencastle boys' golf team placed fifth at the Terre Haute South Brave Invitational Saturday. The Tiger Cubs total of 321 was just one point behind fourth place Linton.

GHS senior Jim Wheeler posted a 77 to lead Greencastle in Saturday's performace. Junior Brad Haussin shot a 78, followed by freshman Alec Davis with a 79 and senior Tyler Hopkins with an 87. Freshman Tanner Dean shot a 95 for the Tiger Cubs.

"Solid performance by Jim, Brad, and Alec," GHS head coach Steve Paquin said. "(The) course proved very difficult for Tyler and Tanner. The greens were very fast and hard to putt for everyone. A good field and decent weather provided some very good shots and scores for the participants."

Paquin went on to discuss what the team needs to continue to address to get better and first up would be some nice weather for a change.

"We need to keep working on the parts of the game that are so crucial to good scoring and that is hitting fairways, greens, and keeping our putts to under 30 for 18 holes. It's early in the season and the hopes for warm, sunny weather will help all our players to improve," Paquin said.

Greencastle will host Terre Haute South today at 4:45 p.m.
