SR 42 closed in northern Owen County

Thursday, April 28, 2011

INDOT has announced the closure of State Road 42 in northern Owen County due to rising waters.

State Road 42 is closed between State Road 243 and Owen County Road 1200N. The closure will remain in effect until waters recede.

When encountering a flooded roadway, INDOT urges drivers to turn around and not drive through standing water. According to the National Weather Service, most flooding deaths occur in automobiles. Six inches of standing water is enough to cause passenger cars to stall and a foot of water will float many vehicles.

  • Oh my, here we go again. It wouldn't be as bad if Cunot/Cataract Rd was taken care of. But NO, Hasn't been repaired in over 5 yrs. One question Owen County, where does my wheel tax go for repairs for county roads?
