Spring is competition season for choral groups at Cloverdale. On April 2 the Middle School Choir competed at the Organization Contest sponsored by the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) held at Cloverdale High School. They earned a Gold Award, receiving superior ratings from all 3 judges.

In the High School category, the Women's Ensemble competed in the ISSMA Vocal Jazz competition held at Brownsburg on March 5. They received a Gold Award for their efforts, singing the jazz classics, "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", "Stardust", and "String of Pearls". On April 9 both the High School Mixed Choir and the Women's Ensemble competed at the ISSMA Organizational Contest at Northview High School in Brazil. The Mixed Choir sang, "Kyrie", "Cantate Domino", and "The Road Not Taken". The Ensemble performed, "The Linden Tree", "Under The Greenwood Tree", and"I Know Where I'm Goin". Both groups received superior ratings from all three judges.

In addition CHS vocalists competed and excelled at District and State Solo Ensemble competitions held during the winter.

The CHS instrumental groups: Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Concert Band as well as soloists and ensembles during Solo Ensemble season have also received superior ratings throughout the school year.

Because of these successes the Cloverdale High School Music Department will this year receive a Total Department Award Banner from the Indiana State School Music Association. CHS instrumentalists are directed by William Cole and vocalists are directed by Deborah Lambert.
