GMS track teams win in tri-meet

The Greencastle Middle School boys' and girls' track team won in a tri-meet against Owen Valley and Martinsville Thursday. The girls won the meet with a total of 85.5 points, to Martinsville's 27 and Owen Valley's 24.5. The boys won with a total of 72 to Owen Valley's 58 and Martinsville's seven.

Libby Brush won the 2,400-meter run in a time of 9:48 and the 800-meter run in 2:51. Erica Hoagland won the 200-meter dash in 30.23 and the 100-meter dash in 14.33. Brittany Welker captured the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.71 and Amelia Smith won the 400-meter dash in 1:09. Callan Taylor was first in the high jump with a height of 4-feet-4-inches and Sydney Stuckwisch won the shot put with a toss of 27-feet-3-inches.

The 1,600-meter relay team also won in a time of 5-minutes flat.

In the boys' race, Elijah Brattain won the 2,400-meter run in 8:20 and the 400-meter dash in 58.11. Taylor Secrest won the 1,600-meter run in 5:08 and the 800-meter run in 2:20. Nathan Grzesiek won the 110-meter hurdles in 19.19 and Anthony Mitchell won the 100-meter dash in 12.6 and the high jump with a height of 5-feet-2-inches.

The 1,600-meter relay team also won in a time of 4:16.
