Cougars win double-header over Warriors Saturday

MARSHALL -- The North Putnam softball team won a double-header over Turkey Run Saturday. In game one the Cougars won 15-1 and in game two they won 10-0.

Lauren Green got the start in game one and struck out five, while allowing five walks. She was also 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Katie Welch was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Taylor Judy went 3-for-5 with an RBI and four runs scored.

Morgan Robinson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Bailey Ault was 3-for-5 with one RBI and Alyssa Roberts was 2-for-4 with an RBI and one run scored. Danielle Harbison, Laken Pugh and Kayla Fish all had one hit each, with Harbison chipping in two RBIs.

In game two, Taylor got the nod and recorded seven strikeouts and one hit in the shutout. She was had a hit and one RBI.

Welch had a hot bat once again going 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Robinson also chipped in a triple and an RBI on 2-for-4 batting. Green was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

Roberts was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored, with Ault, Pugh and Harbison adding one hit each. Pugh and Haribson also had an RBI each.

North Putnam will host Monrovia at 5 p.m. today.
