Nancy A. McVay, 73, Greencastle, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Parkwood Health Care Center, Lebanon. She died of natural causes due to ALS.

Born Sept. 7, 1937 in Greencastle, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth F. and Pearl (Allee) Harris.

Nancy was previously married to Ronald E. Saunders and later to Raymond Phillips. In 1990, she married Phillip McVay, and he survives.

She spent most of her life as a resident of Greencastle, and graduated from Greencastle High School.

Mrs. Mcvay was employed as a housekeeper at DePauw University for a period of time and had also worked as a nanny for several years. Her most recent employment was as a greeter for the Greencastle Kroger store.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family and friends an all of their activities. She was involved in her church and spent many hours helping others.

She was a member of Rev. G. T. Haywood Memorial Church in Greencastle.

Survivors include her children, Mark K. Saunders and William C. Phillips, both of Greencastle, and Denise K. Fulks and husband Andy, Lebanon; a stepson, Sean McVay and wife Ashley; eight grandchildren, Nicholas King, Tabitha Bialk, Matthew King, Ashley Fulks, David Fulks, Amber Cronk, Vanessa Saunders and Landon McVay; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eileen Ridgway, Fort Wayne, and Coleen Clines, Greencastle.

Nancy was preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Bade, Frances Clark, Dorothy Ford, Howard Harris, Manfred Harris and Lillian Ross.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rev. G.T. Haywood Memorial Church, 804 Albin Pond Rd., Greencastle. Bro. Mitchell Cheatham will officiate. Visitation is planned at the church from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Interment will follow services at Forest Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

Myers Mortuary, Lebanon, is handling arrangements.
