Representing more than 100 years of service to education, five retiring Greencastle Middle School staff members were honored with an open house Tuesday afternoon. Led by the 35-year career of Mike VanRensselaer (second from left), the quintet totaled 107 years in education. "Mr. Van" served as math teacher, computer teacher and coach at GMS and the old Greencastle Junior High School. Bob Hedge (right) logged 19 years as GMS/GHS band instructor, while GMS school nurse Kathy Custis (second from right) is retiring after 28 years. Deb Fenoglio (center), GMS special education teacher, held her position 18 years, while Patty Hutson (left) is retiring after seven years as an instructional assistant at GMS.
