Cooler heads to prevail

Campers at the 2011 Putnam County Fair will be able to use air-conditioning units this year, thanks to a fairgrounds project being completed by McCloud Electric Service, Roachdale. Electrician Raymond McCloud (right) and his workers, Kevin Reed (center) and Dalton Harbison, have been installing new electric boxes with plug-in capability for 104 campers in the area surrounding the old county highway garage at the north end of the property and around the horse barn. Previously, with only 200-amp service available, campers could only cool themselves with electric fans. The new 3200-amp service will allow for air-conditioning units to be fully utilized. McCloud noted that several Fair Board members donated their time and energy in the evenings and on weekends to set the posts for the boxes and help run the wiring before his crew finished the actual electrical work.
