The Area 30 Career Center Education Interlocal Board of Directors assigned new officers when it met Wednesday for its executive and regular monthly meetings.

The board is made up of the superintendents of the different school districts involved with the Area 30 Career Center. Representatives present were Murray Pride, Eminence; Carrie Milner, Cloverdale; Bruce Bernhardt, South Putnam; and, sitting in for departing Superintendent Bob Green, Assistant Superintendent Dawn Puckett, Greencastle.

Also in attendance were Area 30 Executive Director Lora Busch and Treasurer Cindy Burnham. Mary Lovejoy, North Putnam, was absent.

The usual policy in deciding officers is for the positions to rotate alphabetically by school district. If the pattern had continued, the president's seat would have transferred from Pride of Eminence, to Green of Greencastle. Given Green's recent resignation, the board opted for Pride to retain the seat in this rotation. Lovejoy will be the new vice president and Bernhardt will take on the secretarial seat.

The board also approved the first addendum to the 2010 leases with West Central Service Center, C.A.R.S (operators of the Head Start program) and the Old National Trail.

Larry J. Geese and Cindy Burnham will continue on as the Area 30 Interlocal attorney and treasurer, respectively.

The board agreed to hire Jerry Thomas in a summer custodial position and Zane Earles in a technology support position.

Finally, the 2010-2011 master contract was approved, as were the 2010-2011 budget approved at May's meeting and the May financial report.

The next meeting of the Area 30 Career Center Education Interlocal Board of Directors will be announced at a later date.
