The two vehicles met in a corner just west of CR 550 East. Road marks indicate Grove was left of center, and not only struck Best's vehicle, but forced it off the road and into a guardrail. Best said he had nowhere to go but off the road.

Bruce A. Burry, 46, Livonia, Mass., was the third vehicle behind Martinez. He was unable to stop his 2005 Ford F350, rear-ending the 2011 Dodge van driven by Russ A. Clements, 36, Mooresville. This pushed Clements into the 2008 Ford Focus driven by Carolyn L. West, 62, Mount Vernon.

The Martinez vehicle was undamaged.

Damage $10,001-$25,000.

He merged in front of the 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Julia M. Costello, 24, Clinton. He said he did not see Costello.
