Combined effort

John Shoffner and his grandchildren, Abbey and Edwin Shoffner (at right) could be seen out on John's Massey Ferguson Super 35 combine Thursday afternoon harvesting wheat. Shoffner bought the combine because his father, J. L. Shoffner, had purchased him one when he was a boy. "It's been 50 years since I've run one of these, and we just thought it would be a neat thing to do," John said. "It's really amazing how similar the older combines are to the new ones. They're practically still the same to run," John's son Tyler said. John hopes to run the combine once or twice a year, just as a reminder to how much farming and technology have progressed over the years.
