City Police

One arrest was reported Thursday by Greencastle City police officers.

Troy Strader, 21, Greencastle was arrested for theft at the Walmart store on Indianapolis Road.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Strader was arrested at 2:48 p.m. by Officer Jeff Modlin. No information was available on what he allegedly took.

Four recent property-damage accidents were investigated by city officers.

-- At 9:04 p.m. Tuesday, a minor mishap was reported in the IAC parking lot off Fillmore Road. Wanda Brown, 72, Brazil, was backing a 1995 Jeep Cherokee when the vehicle struck a parked 2007 Jeep, owned by Dwight Fuller, Anderson.

Officer Eric Vaughan estimated total damage in the accident at $1,00-$2,500.

-- At 5:02 p.m. Monday, a two-vehicle accident on Avenue D was investigated by Chief Tom Sutherlin.

James Johnson, 43, Greencastle, was reportedly turning right off Fifth Street onto Avenue D when his attention was diverted and he turned his 2005 Dodge Ram into the path of a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Charles Ferrand, 43, Fillmore.

Chief Sutherlin estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 3:05 p.m. Monday, Veterans Highway was the scene of a two-vehicle accident as Rick DeVylder, 54, Greencastle, approached the stoplight at Bloomington Street, westbound in a 2000 GMC Sonoma.

Traveling behind the GMC was a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by James Shouse, 46, Brazil. Shouse told Officer Darrel Bunten he was momentarily distracted and did not see the DeVylder vehicle slowing and his car ran into the rear of it.

Total damage was estimated in excess of $2,500.

-- At 5:14 p.m. June 23, a two-car accident occurred at Veterans Highway and Percy Julian Drive as Erin Pitt, 24, Greencastle, was westbound, driving a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero.

Officer Bunten said Pitt disregarded a stop sign, for which she was later ticketed, causing her car to strike a 1997 Mercury Marquis, driven by Tonya McKamey, 47, Cloverdale.

Total damage was listed at $2,500-$5,000.

Three additional traffic citations were issued by city officers.

-- At 7:49 a.m. Wednesday, Celeste Blanton, 60, Cloverdale, was cited by Officer Albert Epple for 44 mph in a 30-mph zone on Bloomington Street.

-- At 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Kelly Murphy, 19, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Epple for disregarding a traffic control device in the construction zone on Percy Julian Drive.

-- At 3:18 a.m. Tuesday, Brian Gallo, 31, Lafayette, was ticketed on Bloomington Street by Officer Nick Eastham for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone.

County Jail

Joshua Alen Castetter, 26, Clinton: Probation violation, June 30, 2:21 p.m.

Teresa Danyiel Myers, 38, Terre Haute: Operating while intoxicated, June 30, noon.

Sheriff's Department

* June 23, 11:15 a.m.: Kirk G. Collins, 47 Greencastle, was backing up in his driveway on Windemere Drive in a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse when he struck a 2010 Dodge rental car parked in his driveway.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* June 25, 10:15 a.m.: Lana Morrell, 41, Greencastle, was northbound on CR 725 East, just south of SR 240, in a 1999 Chevrolet Tracker. The vehicle's passenger side front tie rod broke, causing her to lose control, veer right and hit a culvert.

Morrell was treated at the scene for an abrasion to her neck.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* June 25, 1 p.m.: John Roof, 46, Jasonville, was westbound in the lot of the Marathon station at U.S. 40 and U.S. 231 in a 2007 Dodge Ram. The trailer he was pulling hit a parked 2004 Ford F150 owned by Melford Wise, Brazil.

Damage $1,001-$2,500.

* June 29, 5:47 p.m.: Deborah Petzl, 52, Bainbridge, was traveling up a driveway on CR 650 North in a 1998 Mercury when she was hit on the driver's side by Joshua Hoagland, 32, Bainbridge, in a 1992 Toyota. Hoagland said he could not see Petzl's vehicle until he reached the end of the drive.

Damage $5,001-$10,000.

June 27, 11:41 p.m.: Detector malfunction at 724 E. Washington St. Cleared 12:11 a.m.

June 28, 2:08 p.m.: Assisted Russellville with investigation of a structure fire at 8259 N. CR 625 West. Cleared 3:40 p.m.

June 28, 11:41 p.m.: Assisted Operation Life at 1012 Avenue B. Cleared 12:29 a.m.
