'Don't Drink the Water' auditions set July 24-25

Director Jim Rambo will have two sessions of auditions for the comedy "Don't Drink the Water," the final production of the Putnam County Playhouse's 50th season.

The first tryout session will be Sunday, July 24, at 3 p.m. A second session will be on Monday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be in the rehearsal center at the Hazel Day Longden Theatre.

"Don't Drink the Water" by Woody Allen is sponsored in part by Rossok & Co. Insurance.

Major roles to be cast include Walter and Marion Hollander and their daughter Susan who find themselves trapped in the American Embassy of a small country behind the Iron Curtain.

Among those they have to deal with include the ambassador's son, Axel; Father Drobney, a priest who loves magic tricks; Krojack, the head of the local secret police; Burns and Kilroy, typical government employees; Ambassador Magee; and several other small roles as employees and guests of the embassy.

There are no roles for children in this production.
