Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police.

Early Saturday, Jesse Witt, 28, Cloverdale, was arrested after he reportedly fled the scene of a property-damage accident.

Witt was arrested for public intoxication and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior offense. He was also cited for failure to stop after an accident.

Officer Matt Huffman reported that the Witt vehicle struck a house at 512 E. Hanna St. and the driver then drove away from the scene.

Witt was lodged in the Putnam County Jail at 6:19 a.m.

At 11:30 p.m. Monday, James Levi Ellis, 21, Coatesville was arrested for invasion of privacy after Officer Huffman stopped a vehicle in which he was riding on Round Barn Road.

Police said Ellis had a no-contact order relative to the driver of the vehicle, Crystal Whaley, 30, Greencastle. She told police she was giving Ellis a ride.

Whaley was ticketed for having no driver's license.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Jacob Handlon, 20, Fillmore, was arrested by Sgt. Chris Jones at Castlebury Apartments on an out-of-county warrant to revoke probation.

He was reportedly returned to Vigo County.

In other police activity, the report of a missing child had a happy ending Sunday morning.

A missing three-year-old girl was reported about 10:30 a.m. Sunday when the girl apparently went out the front door of her Daggy Street home on the city's northwest side.

The girl was found a short time later on West Jacob Street by Putnam County Deputy Don Pettit and was transported home by GPD Sgt. Terry Eastham.

Three recent accidents were also investigated by GPD officers.

A four-vehicle mishap occurred at 12:35 p.m. Monday at North Jackson and Depot streets just south of the underpass on the city's north side.

A 1998 Ford, driven by Karen Galloway, 57, Greencastle, had slowed because of traffic in front of her when the vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2003 Freightliner semi, driven by Gene Marshall, 66, Mulberry.

Marshall told Officer Jeff Modlin his attention was momentarily distracted by a spill in the roadway and his vehicle ran into the Galloway Ford. The Galloway vehicle then struck a 2000 Chevrolet S-10, driven by James Wheeler, 18, Greencastle, which was pushed into a 2010 Toyota, driven by Janet S. Resner, 64, Greencastle.

Total damage in the accident was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

At 11:21 a.m. Friday, a two-car accident was reported near Washington and Vine streets.

Thomas Halsel, 30, Fillmore, was westbound on Washington Street, driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, when he attempted to make a U-turn to park in front of the pawn shop, Officer Albert Epple said.

The maneuver reportedly caused Halsel's car to strike an eastbound 2002 Ford Taurus, driven by Lisa Parham, 48, Greencastle.

Halsel was ticketed for unsafe lane movement.

Total damage in the accident was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

A one-car accident was blamed on a drowsy driver early Friday.

Jon T. Hennette, 19, Greencastle, was eastbound on Albin Pond Road, driving a 2002 Hyundai, when he began to fall sleep behind the wheel, he told Officer Huffman.

Hennette reawakened as the car headed toward a mailbox. The teenager reportedly swerved in the opposite direction, overcorrecting and causing the car to leave the roadway.

He was uninjured but the car sustained an estimated $5,000-$10,000 damage in the 4:15 a.m. accident.
