Mill Pond Health Campus adopts Putnam Food Pantry

Mill Pond Health Campus is donating more than $1,000 worth of food to Putnam County Food Pantry as part of its "Independence from Hunger" food drive during the month of July.

All Mill Pond employees were encouraged to donate food in addition to cash or personal time, which was converted into pounds, to the Food Pantry cause.

"Mill Pond is committed to strengthening the community we serve," Jessica Crafton, Mill Pond executive director. "Supporting organizations like Putnam County Food Pantry helps to make a difference by improving the quality of life in our community.

"At Mill Pond Health Campus we are constantly striving to make a positive difference in Greencastle," Crafton added.

The Mill Pond team will present its donation to Judy Miller, Food Pantry president, and Frances Washburne, vice president, at Mill Pond's monthly Senior Executive Club luncheon at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 27.

The Putnam County Food Pantry is a non-profit charity that has served the Greencastle area for nearly 40 years. Many local churches joined together to form the pantry and one central location to service the families of Putnam County.

Year to date, the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry, located at 620 Tennessee St., Greencastle, has helped more than 3,300 families with approximately 25,000 meals.

The "Independence from Hunger" Food Drive was a company-wide initiative in which each of the 65 Trilogy Health Services communities participated, each designating a local food bank as recipient.

The company as a whole was able to donate about 503,000 pounds of food to local charities. In last year's food drive the company raised nearly 270,000 pounds of food companywide.
