Expect Delays

Saturday, July 23, 2011
Moving phone lines across the road sounds simple enough, right? Drivers on Greencastle's south side found this not to be the case, Friday, as workers on no less than seven aerial trucks worked to move Frontier Communications wires from the east side of U.S. 231 to the west side. Although INDOT warned of road closures of 15 minutes, the work was a bit more involved at the intersection of U.S. 231 and SR 240, with traffic backing up in all four directions. The work is to continue to approximately 1,500 feet south of the intersection and is expected to be completed on Sunday. Once utility lines are moved, contractors can begin work on widening the intersection.

  • Couldn't this have been planned better so as not to coincide with traffic to the county fair this weekend?
