Imagination Donation

Saturday, August 13, 2011
With 371 children signed up so far, the Putnam County Public Library's Imagination Library project is up and running. Through the national program founded by Dolly Parton, children receive books addressed to them monthly in the mail. The program is open to children from birth to age five. The program is free to participants, so it takes support from the community to keep it going. It takes $25 per year to support each child's participation in the program. Putnamville Correctional Facility made a $500 donation to the program on Monday, Aug. 8, the same day the first books began arriving for local kids. From left, case work manager Sashi Kumaran, assistant superintendent of re-entry Craig Grage and case worker Sarah Schuetz made the presentation to library director Alice Greenburg and Friends of the Library president Cathryn Ensley. For more information on the program, contact Greenburg at 653-2755, ex. 102 or alice@putnam.lib.in.us.
