Saturday Shoes on a Tuesday Night

Monday, August 22, 2011
Local alt-country specialists Saturday Shoes will be back at Parkfest for a 6:30 p.m. set Tuesday evening in the bandshell at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle. The band features Rick Barcus on guitar and lead vocals, Anthony Mullis on guitar and backing vocals, Jeremy Hayes on drums and Dennis Furr on bass. Furr said it's difficult to tell exactly what the band might be playing from week to week, but to expect a mix of current alt-country peppered with some classic rock influences. "Very often we're inspired by concerts that we've been to, so expect to hear some My Morning Jacket and Drive-By-Truckers," Furr said. "We still respect our roots, so expect to hear a couple classics thrown in the mix." He also cited influences from bands like Wilco, Band of Horses, The Decemberists and Iron and Wine.
