INDIANAPOLIS -- The Kroger Co.'s Central Division has launched its annual fundraising campaign in support of "Toys for Tots" in all 147 stores.

Kroger customers and associates may contribute via coin boxes at all check lanes, self-checkouts and pharmacy counters through Saturday, Nov. 5.

Last year this campaign raised $20,991 for the "Toys for Tots" program. This year, Kroger hopes to raise even more for "Toys for Tots" through the coin box campaign.

In addition to the coin box campaign, Kroger Central Division added an additional fundraiser in northeast Indiana stores. From Nov. 6-Dec. 18, Kroger associates and customers may place new, unwrapped toys in collection bins in all northeast Indiana Kroger, Scott's and Owens stores.

Donated toys will be collected by the U.S. Marine Corps' regional "Toys for Tots" coordinator and distributed to needy children in northeast Indiana.

The Kroger Co. has been serving local communities for 128 years. Its Central Division has 147 food stores, 121 pharmacies and 64 fuel centers with locations primarily in Indiana and Illinois, in addition to five stores in Missouri, one in Michigan and one in Ohio.

Kroger's Central Division contributed more than $13.3 million in 2010 to local organizations, primarily focusing on hunger relief, K-12 education, health causes and diversity.
